Scope of the committee :

The Radiation Safety Committee is responsible for establishing policies governing the procurement, use, storage and disposal of radiation-producing devices. The Committee includes individuals experienced in the use of radiation sources in medicine and research at the hospital. The duties of the Committee include:

Monitoring the institutional program to maintain occupational doses as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).

Reviewing and approving or disapproving proposed uses of radiation
Reviewing and approving, with the advice or consent of the Radiation Safety Officer and the management representative, or disapproving, procedures and radiation safety program changes prior to submittal to regulatory
Reviewing six monthly, with the assistance of the Radiation Safety Officer, occupational radiation exposure records of personnel working with

Establishing a table of occupational dose levels that, if exceeded, shall initiate investigations and considerations for action by the Radiation Safety Officer.
